10-Metre DX Spots popup
Tony's 10 Metre Band Report (from Spain)
24
August, 2007
A much better week last week.
Tuesday worked S53BV, DJ1ZU, F5OUX (Cyryl in Grenoble, French Alps using
a 6-ele mono-bander, ooer), F4BIV/P. Also heard PY5HOT (love that callsign),
CT1DWJ and IK8TM.
Wednesday got DL40RR DXA operated by Mirko in Hanover,
obviously a special event station but I forget what for. There was also
a Spanish sort of Townhall/Municipial contest. But although there were
lots of them on they wouldn’t or couldn’t work me even though
I was in Spain.
Never mind here are the ones I heard.
EA1EJ, EA5DH, EC7AT, EA2YY, EA1EXE, EA1AF, EA4TX, EC2AFI, EA4EEC, EB3AQF
plus IK2BDR, IK3ITR, IV3HYD, IW7ECJ, IJ4JMA, IW1RIN, IV3NVN, PA3FQA, DJ9SB
and HA3MN and I still managed 5 hours on the beach and 3 hours in a restaurant!
Thursday, very lean by comparison. IS0/IZ1DSH EU024 probably
my first Sardinian contact, but then my memory’s not great, also
IZ6BXV, I3CGV, IK3HHX.
Friday just I3CGV.
Saturday S59N, Dan in Naklo at 59++ but there was only me
and him on the band so I sneaked a listen on 20m. GT4IOM was on, that’s
a special event station from The Isle of Man. I retuned the TS430 gave
him a call intending to get him on Ten Metres and RF burned myself on
the metal clip on the mic. High voltage RF in the shack, not a good idea.
Gave that up quick.
Nothing, nada, nix, nil, nowt, nuffing since.
Some guys came and swapped the satellite tv box for a new one which works
great, but I missed a 5 day test and a one dayer. Still now the wife can
catch up on her soaps, and there will be more cricket.
Incidentally the BBC World Service has no service to Europe between 09:00
and 15:00 and again nothing after 21:00 (all UTC). OK slight concession,
Saturday, 14:00 to 17:00 on 12.095MHz sport. Gone are the days of TMS
and full coverage of Test Matches. Ah, the good old days.
We had torrential rain last night. I suppose if you’ve got to have
rain then middle of the night is the best time, so say I.
Will I be watching England v Germany? No. The Almazara restaurant has
boar stew and it is good.
And Stoke, well, played two, won two, and we’re top of the division.
So fingers crossed for the rest of the season.
