A very poor week with only a passable weekend. No sunspots so it looks like Ten Metres has regressed along with the sun. Although there was not quantity there was some quality DX about. XU7ATM (Cambodia), 9X0TL (Rwanda), CX7CO, (Uruguay), D4C (Cape Verde Is) and a few Russian and Scottish stations on Saturday.

John, KB2HSH, heard N4LEM/B 559 last Wednesday. He comments, “The only audible beacon, but quite LOUD.”

I don’t often do this but I will recommend an article in the September edition of RadCom from the RSGB. It is in the HF News section and concerns the CW Skimmer (end of P50) and more importantly the RBN. (Reverse Beacon Network). Here are hot links to their web pages RBN and CW Skimmer. Looks like a great way to find out where your signal is getting to as opposed to who is active, like the usual DX spots.

Sun: Back to the bad old days of blank sun and low activity.

On August 20th at 18:22 UT, amateur astronomer Masayuki Tachikawa of Kumamoto city, Japan, video-recorded an apparent impact on Jupiter.

This is the third time in only
13 months that amateur astronomers have detected signs of impact on Jupiter.
The earlier events occurred on July 19, 2009, and June 3, 2010. Jupiter is getting hit more often than conventional wisdom would suggest, leading many researchers to call for a global network of telescopes to monitor Jupiter 24/7 and measure the impact rate. (Spaceweather.com)

A good 2nd half against Spurs, 'we was robbed by the ref' must be the shout. Chelsea away this weekend. Hmm, if we can keep it down to 4 – 0 then we can claim a moral victory, especially the way Chelsea have started this season!
