Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
11 December 2006

So, the week days were dominated by VU7LD, but even they (an expedition to Kavaratti Island in Lackshadweep) struggled on Monday and Tuesday. Wednesday was a little better and Thursday seemed to be f.m. day with N. Europeans going mad. But the weekend aced them all, probably better then CQWW.

Note the lack of G stations.

So ZX5J easily comes out top of the DX. But then they are a Brazilian specialist contest group with a cracking site.

I’m sure there must be some VKs out there with the space and inclination to give them a run for their money.

C5DXC has a very interesting entry at qrz.com. Noz, as he calls himself, has been about a bit and is now, in his words, “just here chilling out in the smiling coast of the Gambia.”

Contests: There is the (Russian) Radio Magazine contest on 16th from 05:00 to 09:00. Plus the Naval Club contest from 16:00 on the 16th to 16:00 on the 17th. Then there is very little until the New Year.

Sun: Sun spot 930 has gone calm and there is very little solar activity. The Geminid meteor shower is underway. It's quite weak at the moment; Earth is just beginning its entry into the Geminid stream. As the week goes on, rates will increase, peaking on Thursday morning, Dec. 14th, when sky watchers could see as many as 120 meteors per hour.

And space shuttle Discovery finally got away, but at night, quite spectacular really.

Now you can help Tony to compile his ten-metre report.
Tell him about any stations you've heard on the 10-metre band in your part of the world, or tell him if you've also found the band to be dead.
Use the form in the pop-up window to record the details of any stations that you have heard during this week.
