Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
01 February 2007

Well, the antenna is back up, but really I need not have rushed.
The band has been as dead as a dead thing with knobs on. You only have to look at the week’s pickings below to realise how poor it’s been.

Most popular DX
Monday: BX5AA, SV1BSX, G0OUF/P, G0FWX, VK6CJL, YO9BXC.

Tuesday: VK9ZLH, VK4JGH, VK3GK, VK2VFV, VK2HBG, VK2FTNY, VK2FALL, N5XZ, K9RX, PU2KSQ.

Wednesday: SV1BSX, AO7SAT, YO9BXC, VU7RG, SV1BSX, DJ8OG, UA6AA, K4MGP, IV3OWC, GM4FAM, EB4DKN, EA4WT.

Thursday: F4EJQ, LA9VDA, ZL2TEM, PY2CX, BX5AA, VK2XZ, PY2SBY, PE2HHN, BV5BG.

Friday: VP8LP, K3SZH, G0OUF/P, F1GHX, EC4DIM, 9W6SUE, F6HTJ, VK4CQ, S57S, PY2XC, PU2KSQ, G0LCC, EB4DKN.

Saturday: 6Y1V, JA9JWL, DO4SH, 9W6SUE, VK2XZ, W4GF, VK2YDD, IZ8EYP, DO4SH, YV4DYJ, VK4CQ, VK2XZ, JA0EKI.

Sunday: 9W6SUE, VK2APG, VK2YDD, AO7SAT, EA7URG, KP4SAT, SV1BSX, HB9RDE, IW6SUE, JR3JFZ, YHB9RDL(?), LU3CQ, ON7LR, OQ7T (Belgium), RS15 (?), VK2XZ/M, VK4HMU, , AG4EX, F6HTJ, HL2AEJ, JA1FXT, VK4CZ, W9RDA.

YHB9RDL and RS15 (also RS-15) were reported on a few occasions but have obviously been mis-heard.

Contests: Nothing of any consequence for a while.
Just a quick reminder of the YV0 DXpedition to Aves Island. The call used on Ten Metres may be YW0DX. They should be up and running 2nd week in February. So also should the VP2M Montserrat one.

The Moon - photographed by Mohammad Shirani

Sun: There are a couple of small spots, 940 & 941, but they will not be doing much.
I always think of the moon as a white/grey blob (good astronomical term) in the sky. However this photo taken by Mohammad Shirani shows that not to be the case. Sure the colours have been enhanced, but they were there to start with.

Finally, Stoke lose to Fulham in the Cup, Duberry transfers to Reading (hooray), and England lose yet another cricket match. Doh!
