Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
19 July 2006

Well, it's been a belting week for weather with temperatures up in the 30s. Wednesday is set to be a record-breaking day so I’m told. It’s got to get over 37°C to break records though.

Not a good week for cricket. I was at Lord’s last Friday and on Monday for the last day. Friday was most excellent with several hundreds being scored and a superb flying catch from Collingwood. Monday was chalk and cheese. I think my son James, who lives in Oz, put it best, “Strauss (Captain) snatched a draw from the jaws of victory”.

And on to Ten Metres, or if you prefer Ten Meters, or even 10m.

Top DX generally in order of most contacts.

Contests:
I cannot find anything at all until the RSGB IOTA contest on the 29th -30th 12:00 to 12:00.

Sun:
Sunspot 900 is getting bigger, but in the grand scheme of things it’s an insignificant one as yet.

Jupiter is fairly easy to see at the moment. Jupiter's Great Red Spot and Red Jr. are bumping into each other this week. So far, "the great storms are surviving just fine," reports Don Parker of Coral Gables, Florida, who took this picture on July 15th.

Personally, it's been a painful week. I cracked a tooth and have just had to have it pulled. That’s two in ten years. The dentist, whilst relieving me of £85, said “Well if you crack one every ten years you’ll still have a few left when you’re 80.” “Gum disease is gonna get you” was his parting shot. He’s a good guy really.

The Club House

Dalrymple, Middlesex and England, opening the bowling after lunch. Note the inevitable Fosters tent and burger bar to the left of the church

There’s more cricket this week with Middlesex playing Surrey at Southgate in a 4 dayer. Then a 40 over match on Sunday also at Southgate. It’s a beautiful local ground as opposed to all the grandeur of Lord’s. Here are a two pics of the ground

Last comment:
Two weeks to the start of the soccer Championship with Stoke away to Southend, one of the newly promoted clubs. ‘4TUT,s from that part of the world (Southend) but I cannot persuade him to go. Mind you I cannot get any RF out of him either.
