Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
18 June 2006
Its been a busy two weeks for me but now things should
settle back to normal. The school time table is finished so I have more
time to play radios.
Monday:
Lots of Europe to South America contacts with I suppose, the World Cup
fuelling activity. VI9NI were always going to get their share of the action.
Nice call of the day, TO0O from Martinique.
Tuesday:
A lot of European activity but the real DX was once again, VI9NI on Norfolk
Island.
Wednesday:
Again Europe open to Russia, Japan and S America YS1SPY (fancy being a
spy in El Salvador), NP3FY and HJ4OBA (Colombia) being notable.
Thursday:
Plenty of Europeans in to S America and some N American short skip. VI9NI
and HV0A (Vatician City) being very popular DX along with RK6YYA/0
Friday:
Far more diverse spread with stations from N & S America, Europe,
Russia and S Africa getting in on the act. TP20CE was 3rd most popular
DX after the usual culprits .
I’ll include this weekends stuff in the next report.
Contests:
Next weekend could be interesting , The King of Spain Contest 12:00 Saturday
to 12:00 Sunday and ARRL Field Day Saturday 18:00 to Sunday 21:00 plus
QRP Milliwatt Field Day.
Sun:
Just one sunspot, 896. Growing but not a problem yet. On July 3rd, asteroid
2004 XP14 will fly past Earth barely farther away than the Moon. The 600-meter
space rock, glowing like a 12th magnitude star, will slide through the
Milky Way in only 4 hours. More later.
The International
Space Station (ISS) is doing something unusual: For the next few days
it'll be orbiting Earth in almost-constant sunlight. This happens every
year around the time of the summer solstice, and it results in many good
sighting opportunities.

Short but sweet this week.
