Tony's 10 Meter Band Report
07 June 2007
First an apology is due. Brian, G8VPR sent
in two reports which for some reason got shunted to the wrong directory
by my mail client and so got missed out of last week’s column.
I’m including them in this weeks report but do remember
they are from the previous week. Brian said he worked,
“LG5LG 5/9, OK1WHV 5/5, S59DKR 5/9, DB8WJ 5/9, 9A950DX 59+40, with
all contacts between 11:07 and 16:20 on Monday.”
9A950DX is only in Croatia so not far away but 59+40 is damn good for
ten metres.
Horst, DR06XV, says
“Friday in the afternoon I worked PY2DY (Member of the 10m Yahoo
Group ??) on10m with 55. I hear 3XM6JR with 59 but to much station call
him. Hope to have luck to catch Australia soon also on 10m.
"The Special Event Station DR06XVI QRV until 12.08.2007 and then
the licence a closed. (Maybe a lot of you will work me on the band).
DR06XVI is a special Event Station from the Birthplace of Pope
Benedikt XVI in Marktl am Inn a little village in Bavaria but now a lot
of people know this little village.”
That’s all new to me Horst so thanks for the info plus good luck
with the Australians. It’s ZL I haven’t worked. (except a
ZL/mm in the Mediterranean, so that doesn’t count).
Carlos, PY2XC, a regular 10m addict, says,
“There has been very good openings between South America and
Europe every afternoon (around 17 to 21 UTC). Even Asia is beginning to
come thru in good conditions”

Here is a picture of HV0A’s shack.
Contests: Not much, the Portugal Day Contest from 00:00
to 24:00 Saturday and an Asia-Pacific contest 11:00 to 13:00 Saturday.
Sun: Sunspots 958, 959 and 960 are out and about. Although
sunspot 960 is decaying, it poses a continued threat for strong flares.
NOAA forecasters estimate a 10% chance of an X-flare--10+ times as powerful
as the one pictured below, during the next 24 hours.
