Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
16 March 2007

Sunday in particular of last week was fairly good. There were ZPs, VPs, HPs even WPs and I can be allowed to P’d off for not working any of them!! Good to see some Gs are though, notably G0FWX and G7BXU to name but two.

Carl, VR2LH, puts things more or less the same as last week.
He heard VK4, VK6, PW6, J28JA and JA.
“As per previous experience over the last week, even up to an hour or so after sunset my end, non commercial AM signals (of Asian origin) were often heard all over 10m but with very few amateur stations present.
Saturday conditions were not that good but I did manage a handful of inter Asian contacts with a sprinkling of VKs. When VK6KRC (Bob, Western Australia) beamed away from me and towards the Indian Ocean his signal was much stronger than when beaming directly towards me so I assume backscatter of some sort was responsible?
Also on Saturday, mid afternoon and at the time 10m was an apparently ‘dead’ band, I was pleasantly surprised to receive a reply to my call from J28JA (Jean) in Djibouti, a new one for me.”

I had a pleasant surprise this week. My eldest daughter, who’s in Seoul at the moment, announced she is pregnant, will be coming to the UK in June, have the baby in October and go out to live in Hong Kong in the new year. Don’t let the grass grow under their feet these youngsters do they. Any way it does mean that I will get to visit Hong Kong in the new year. So a visit to VR2LH’s place will be on the agenda.

I’m out to Australia early April and hoping to get in a visit to VK4UH in Brisbane. It’s problematic as Kev is a doctor and his time’s not his own.

Jim, M0HDX kindly sent in a report. I don’t get too many UK reports conditions being what they are. He worked ST2M 5/5, PY2DXX 5/7, TR8CA 5/5.
He says, “The above stations worked by me on 10m ssb 11.3.07 apart from TR8CA who I worked on 29.100 FM Antenna 2 element 5 band cubical quad and 400 watts. VP8LP heard same day but I did not work him (weak to me).”

Sounds good Jim, if you have a pick of the antenna I’d like to post it here. Probably you don’t live in a city centre, hi.
