Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
24 March 2007
G4TUT has been in hospital this week so the updates have
not made it to the web pages. He’s on the mend and should be back
in harness Friday/Saturday.
Carlos, PY2XC has complained (not too strong
a word) that he’s not managed VK in 30 years on 10m.
He says, “I am in Radio since September 1971 (long time ago...).
I never ever worked or heard VK (1,2,3 whatever) stations in 10 meters
band... Very Sad. To those who want to set up a sked in 10 meters please
contact me via e-mail. I will be there.”
His email is carlos.silverio@10agilcor.com.br
Note: that to avoid Carlos getting spamed automatically, I have put 10
into his email address. To contact him you will need to remove the 10.
I wonder if Carlos needs ZL as well? Probably.
Another dreary week on Ten Metres, I don’t think there is a single
UK station mentioned and non too many Europeans

Contests: CQ WW WPX from 00:00 Saturday 24th to 24:00
Sunday 25th. This is the fancy dress of all contests where all those peeps
with odd ball, nifty, short, squeaky callsigns dust them off and expect
to be called. And quite right too!! And don’t forget the UK (and
Europe) do half the contest in GMT and half in BST. Haha, yes the clocks
go forward this weekend and you lose an hours sleep. I think maybe they
already have dst in the states.
Sun: Astronomers are calling Japan's Hinode spacecraft
a "Hubble for the sun." On Dec. 13, 2006, Hinode caught sunspot
930 in the act of exploding. The eruption produced an X3-class solar flare,
a billion-ton coronal mass ejection, and spectacular auroras on Earth.
Now, with a high-resolution movie to study, astronomers can see what caused
the explosion: Two sunspots of opposite magnetic polarity bumped together.
An what a BANG.
