Dave, VK5MRD did these on Tuesday, heard VR2CB and a “JA1G?? who tried to call me but I could not get his call”. He worked JA4GXX and many VK stations.
Monday Mike KE5GBC worked KA9PCU 2/2, W4ETB, KI4TUD 5/7 and heard K4PV 5/6 and K5RLD 5/7. His comments were,
“Florida, Georgia, Alabama all open to Texas. The band was really busy. Opening went past dark, sounding good. Hope you get some on your side, Tony.”
We didn’t, not even during the contest, you only have to look how many Gs there aren’t in the list. Wednesday down to earth with a bump. Mike says, “2 good days and yesterday nothing.”
Dave was back again with a report for Saturday.
“Here is my list of Heard and Worked for today Saturday 01/03/2008, the day is not over so there may be more to come. Heard:- KH6WO Bcn, KH7X, 7K3OWM, BG7NWF. Worked:- JA1ANT, JE1SZF, JR0ETA, JE1SDO and a JH0R?? but lost him the QRM/QSB. Also worked VK2XN and VK4CQ on Back Scatter.”
So obviously the ARRL contest didn’t happen in Oz either.
A report from Rob VK3XQ seems indicate the same. For Saturday he worked KH7X 5/5 in contest ARRL DX Test. Well that’s more than I did!!
Contests: There are some bits and bobs this coming weekend. Saturday there is the DIG (German) QSO Party for 10m and 20m, 12:00 to 17:00. Many of the other contests are not for 10m or not for phone. On the 6 th there is, quote, “The Pesky Texan Armadillo Chase”. So watch out all you Armadillos!!
Sun: Yet again no spots but there are rumours of a spot. I bet it’s just media hype. There was an avalanche on Mars and an earthquake in the UK. Also Stoke lost to Preston and to QPR. Report home says, “Could do better, must do better.”
The editor, ‘TUT keeps on at me for not working anyone on Ten Metres. I’m a fraud he says writing this report when I’m not even hearing anyone never mind working them. I can’t get him on to radio but now he’s discovered Skype. Luckily he’s not got a web cam attached!!
