I see Carl, VR2CB, has not yet moved to a more exotic location as he’s still making it into the lists.
Mike KE5GBC is not having much fun. He said last Wednesday, “Heard something in a foreign language this evening on 28.400,could not break them. May have been Mexico, not sure. Called CQ on many popular frequencies and heard nothing.” Same here Mike, without the foreign voices (or any voices).
Dave, VK5MRD, had a poor Wednesday and Thursday. Then on Friday
“Worked:- JO1MWX, JA1WWE.Heard:- BG1KCM, 9W6SUE and as I am typing this email a very weak BU2AQ”.
On Saturday “Worked:- JE1SDO , JJ6VAR ,JG3MBL , JA3EGZ , JA1PAH , JA2GPR and VK4 on back scatter but couldn't pull out his call sign.” Sunday, ” For a day that started out looking like 10m was full of QRN it actually turned out to be quite fruitful for me. I Heard:-BG1KCM, BG5CDQ, HL2/KC6STQ and VK3YUN on Back Scatter.
Worked:-JA0KJE, JA1KIH, JH4ADV, JE1QUR, JQ2GYU, JG1SIS, JA5SRJ, JH3GFA, JJ0HYE, JA0LCP,JE1AON, JA6BGA, JA5CTW, JA6ETS, BG4CZX, BL7JQ, 6K5AQY, VR2CB, VR2VBV and VK4CQ. Another JA0 was trying to call me but I lost him in the QRN/QSB.”
Dave’s hoping for better in the forthcoming WPX contest.
Rafael XE2RV reports that on Friday he:
“Worked: LU6FOV and had a long conversation with Fernando in Argentina, repeated again on Saturday 22:00Z.”
Thanks for that Rafael. It’s good to hear that you’re getting good skip into Argentina. I wish I was.
Contests: This is the big one! CQWW WPX Contest, Saturday 00:00 to Sunday 24:00. This is the one where every one polishes the chrome on their super small, personalised call signs and the rest of us try to work them. Lets hope 10m is as open as it was last Friday.
Sun: Well, well, we have some action. New sunspots 987 and 988 are growing rapidly and pose a threat for B- and C-class solar flares. Although Solar Cycle 24 has begun, these are not Cycle 24 spots. Their magnetic polarity associates them with old Cycle 23.
Hawaii's Kilauea volcano erupted explosively for the first time since 1924! And Stoke City are still top of the Championship!!
