Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
09 May 2007

Things seem to have picked up a bit this week although Friday and Saturday were poorish. Sunday came good as usual.

Stoke City FC didn’t make it to the playoffs so we can look forward to next season in the Championship. Close thing though, we made lots of goal-scoring chances but don’t seem to be able to put them in the net!

The new car, a Mazda RX8. Titanium Grey. Rotary engine, suicide rear seat doors. Very smooth.
I used to have a Mazda RX7 about 10 years back, no problems with that. Well that’s not quite true, I did blow a rotor tip on one cylinder. I still have that engine sitting in my garage!

BS7H and EA8NA both worked loads of stuff.

Daran MW0HMV makes it into the list again along with MW0ZZK, Stephen. He seems to have lots of different calls in the UK and all over the world. Maybe he could let us know what he’s been up to that gets him to see so many places.

Daran says, “Worked 57 stations Monday evening ...Band seems to be on the up from 16.30z every evening now.”
He lists 6W7RV 5/9, PY5DC 5/7, 3XM6JR 5/7, PP5CG 5/9+, IF9A 5/9+, ZP5WYC 5/5, CX4KM 5/9. Pretty good, most of the time from here, I had S8 noise. Although, Wednesday I did manage a Spanish contact.

Dom VK2YDD has been giving good advice on Ten Metre beams to the Yahoo 28_MHz group. Quite rightly he enthuses about his quad. For most of us city dwellers it’s a mere dream.

Les, ZL1KF heard VK2RSY, a beacon at Parramatta, Sydney. “Very weak signal but lasted approx 1hour local time 7.30pm, band otherwise dead.” That goes for most of the rest of us too.

Brad, VK2CEC sent me a pic of the “Centenial Park” Hams. I met some of these guys last month actually in the park in Sydney.

Contests:
Not much, the CQ-M International DX Contest (Russian) 12:00 Saturday to 12:00 Sunday.

Sun:
Fairly placid, spot 955 should give us no problems.
