Although I've kept the older mode of 3 or more contacts to get into the list, in fact the weekend was very active indeed with 1250 contacts reported on Saturday and over 1450 on Sunday. SX5F, FarmakonisI Rocky Islet, just about gets the most sort after DX of the week. They had to leave Sunday morning and so missed out on a load of contacts. PP0T (Cantareira DX Group Trindade Island) and A61BK (United Arab Emirates, Dubai) were also popular. The best part of a cool $9000. Ouch! Hector, CE3FZL, reports, ZL1AAO, Bruce, worked a few last Thursday. KH6QR 5/8, WJ6Y 5/7, K6PAU 5/7, KI6NVG 5/5, W6KEG 5/5, KG6YFV 5/9. He says, “Stations were worked between 03.00 and 03.40 UTC. Band conditions were affected by QSB” Bruce was also on our Chatango chat board this week. “Bruce ZL1AAO: Yesterday some nice short QSOs with Californian 10m DXers. I was probably a little late getting on at 03.00 UTC however signals were 5/5 -5/9. Eric WL7CMT hang on in there it will get better. I often have a quick look at DX Summit to see what's being spotted and then head for the shack. I am running an FT2000 100w to a Create Tri Band Yagi and have a Hustler 4 Band Vertical. If you have space a directional antenna and a vertical will be a useful combination as you can listen around on the vertical and then turn the beam to the areas you hear the signals coming from! I'm heading into the shack this afternoon (The lawns are too wet to cut).” Not too wet to cut here in the UK, been a fine spell except on 10m. Ian, 2M0ISM, on Monday worked EA4FXX 5/9, LA0EM 5/9, GM0IQI 5/9, SM2SUM 5/3, HB9CGW 5/5, IZ2LQD 5/7 and DG2DAU 5/2. He was using “50W PEP into a 1/4 wave vertical for 10m using a Ranger RCI-2970DX and Astatic Minuteman II microphone and also a Yaesu FT-8900 for FM repeater work.” Nice one Ian, we all have to use what we've got. Though it has to be said that some don't use theirs at all (nod toward the Editor). Datta had a really bad, bad, week for him normally he can be banked upon to work 100+ contacts on ten metres or more but this week, “18th May 0 QSO, 19th 2, 20th 0, 21st out of QTH, 22nd out of QTH, 23rd 2, 24th 2”. Wow only 6, which is six more than me!! Contests: Information from WA7BMN Upcoming activity (though not guaranteed to be on 10m). Information from DXwatch.com and 425DXnews Sun: Just spots 1214 and 1216 and they pose no threat. The sun is quiet but not dormant. Stoke City ended the season with their first home defeat of the year losing 0 – 1 to Wigan. 3 defeats on the trot and loads of injuries. Not good for the lads in red or their supporters. Still we are still in the Premier League and will need to get in some new blood to replace the likes of Fuller, Sidibe, and Diao. We now have a 10m (Ten Metre) chat pop-up available for any and all conversations about 10m or such like subjects. We would ask all users to sign-in with their Amateur Radio callsigns.
