Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
01 November, 2007

Phenomenal Thursday through to Sunday.
On Saturday there were 3377 contacts of which 3279 were on phone. Sunday, 3870 contacts with 3795 on phone.

I, of course was in Hong Kong and couldn’t participate, not even listen!! And I didn’t win the lottery. Still, I did see a lot of my new grandson, Victor.

Sunday's CQWW map

Too many stations to go through in detail but HC8N (Galapagos Is) and C50C(Gambia) did remarkably well on both days with HP1AVS wading in top on Sunday.

Carl, VR2LH (left) and Tony

Whilst in HK, I met up with Carl, VR2LH. Would you believe it we found time to have a chat and a few beers. It was a great shame the wife and I were only there for the week to see the grandson otherwise we would have take Carl up on his offer to go up to see his place near the border with China. Next time, next time. This pic of Carl and me is a bit blurry, some one else took it and he’d obviously had a few.

Contests: Everything will pale into insignificance compared to last weekend but there is the Ukrainian DX contest Saturday 12:00 to Sunday 12:00.

Sun: Blank again. However there is comet 17P/Holmes. It’s huge and expanding. This animation shows the relative visual size with the moon. But the comet is 150,000,000 miles away not the mere 240,000 of the moon. Just wait for the doom and gloom newspaper reports.
