I am making some progress in obtaining a VR2 licence, just
now have to figure out how to pay for it as I’m not sure they’ll
accept Visa, we’ll see.
The real bind is that you have to pay to import your equipment
(even temporarily), 150 HK$ and then to export it 150HK$ i.e. take back
out. Almost worth buying a handheld over there and leaving it.
Most popular DX: Again restricted to stations with 3
or more contacts. There were actually many more stations on but they popped
up once just to work one DX station then went away.

Apologies for last week. Several people, VR2LH , W5BUS,
VE2TH and others, sent in reports but because my email
was down I received them too late for inclusion in the CQWW mammoth list.
This week I’ve had nothing, which fits with the relatively low contact
count above. PYs figure prominently especially PY2CX as do Swedish stations.
Generally though a low activity week.
Contests: Some contesting this weekend. The Japanese
International DX Contest, Saturday 07:00 to Sunday 13:00, with one or
two other minor contests.
Sun: The sun had 28 days blank until spot 973 appeared
very faintly. It has now faded. More pictures of comet 17P/Holmes are
available here at Spaceweather.
It is quite spectacular
