One of the poorest weeks on Ten Metres for a long time!
So a short report.
Several of the stations listed below, and there aren’t
many, had only 1 contact. But there was some DX in there - JY4NE, JS5UA
(a misheard ZS5UA?), VR2LH (Hi Carl), ZS5UA, several PYs and VKs.
On a positive front I have obtained a licence to operate in Hong Kong
as VR2/G4CJC and a permit to take in my dual-band hand
held (no 10m I’m afraid, yet). Relatively straight forward if odd
in places. The HK authorities were very helpful and will accept scanned
emailed documents. Paying the fees, only small amounts, was the most awkward
bit, they don’t accept credit cards, yet. But I get the feeling
they will.
Most popular DX.

Michael W5BUS, seemed to think Tuesday was a good day?
He worked CO8LY 59 and PYINB 59. He says, “It has been a great day
on 10 M”. I think there are a few out there who would disagree.
Terry, VE3SUB clocked these NP3HM 59, PY2KC 59 and CO8LY
59+. Why didn’t more people work CO8LY? Cuba is fairly rare.
Carl VR2LH, worked VK4KAY 4/3 along with VK4CZ 5/9,
VK4HMW 5/6, VK4WR 5/8, VK4ACN 5/3 and JQ6QNQ 4/3. His comments certainly
echo my experience, “Saturday the band opened to northern Australia
with many VK4s rolling in. Despite hearing VK4s working other Australian
call areas I could not even hear these guys. Other than the VK4s propagation
seemed not to exist - some sort of TEP based upon the equal distance of
VR2-VK4 from the equator? Sunday back to normal, scratching to hear or
work anything.”
Contests: Just the LZ DX Contest from 12:00 Saturday
to 12:00 Sunday. Wait for the following weekend CQ WW. Yes I know it’s
the CW bit but anything that generates ten meter activity is to be welcomed.
Sun: Blank yet again and Comet Holmes is difficult to
see because of the almost full moon.
