Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
26 November, 2009

Another poor week, I had to down grade the criteria for entry into the list to 2 or more contacts. 9G5TT (Ghana) figures prominently most days and TX3A (Chesterfield Island) close behind.
A fair smattering of other DX but a dullish band all week including the weekend.

Never mind, CQ WW DX CW contest this coming Saturday and Sunday. That will liven things up and we should see some spin off into the phone section for us none-CW enthusiasts.

Paul, K6FRC is chuffed (as we say in Stoke, it means “pleased”)
He says, “Many thanks for the reports, Tony. According to your report, I got hits 6 out of 7 days last week. Sweet! Maybe 10m will wake up finally???”
A vain hope I fear Paul.

Dave VK5MRD’s report smacks of frustration,
“Saturday 21/10/2009. Stations heard were:- JA2IGY/b, VK2RSY/b, VK3RMH/b. Stations worked were:- VK3CAE. Sunday 22/11/2009. I Wish I had more time to get on the radio but at least the band was open today when I was on! “

David CE2WZ’s experience matches that show in the list.
“Not much activity on 10 down here last week. Only made a few contacts. Over the weekend I was helping to operate CB2T from the lighthouse Punta Tortuga in Coquimbo - CHI-077. On Sunday we had several QSOs on 10 with PY and 2 with EA8. Other than that the band was pretty well dead. Here are my other contacts: 17 November, TL0A, CX2DDP, PT9JLG. 19 November, LU6EDC”

Contests: There is really only one this weekend,

NCCC Sprint

0230Z-0300Z, Nov 27

CQ Worldwide DX Contest, CW

0000Z, Nov 28 to 2400Z, Nov 29

On a contest note, does anyone know why the SM3CER contest website is not being updated? It’s an interesting and useful website for those interested in contests, well it was. Now it’s out-of-date. I’ve emailed but I fear that email address will be spammed out of existence, I got no reply.

Upcoming activity (though not guaranteed to be on 10m). Information from DXwatch.com and 425DXnews

Sun: It’s back to blank again. However data from NASA's STEREO spacecraft have confirmed the stunning reality of monster waves on the sun known as "solar tsunamis." Science@NASA has the full story.

And Stoke climb back to 9th with a win over bottom club Portsmouth. In reality we were poor, just that we scored a goal and they didn’t! They missed a penalty, nuf said. And I have tickets to the Arsenal v Stoke match 5 th December! We must play better.
