Tim, M3SDE, sends some groans about Ofcom,
“Hi Tony, Great to read your 10m report once again.... Very
disappointed this week... I waited patiently for October 1st to make my
1st ever QSO's on 10m. What a shambles from Ofcom, it was only after I
had made many QSOs on 10m that day that I was told that Ofcom had put
back the date for Foundation Licences until December 1st. This has not
been published in many places and sadly Ofcom have made a complete *?*#
up of the whole situation. So look forward to working 10m after December
1st now! 73”
A tough one Tim as you will now miss the big contest at the end of October.
But do keep us informed of your contacts and any other interesting info.
Datta, VU2DSI, heard VR2LH, Carl in Hong Kong. It’s
been a while since we’ve had anything from Hong Kong. Datta says
he operates daily at 16:00 on 28.510, so anyone without VU on 10m listen
up!!
3W9JR (Vietnam) could be active over the next 12 months.
5A7A, Libya, will be active from Nov 14th to 19th from just outside Tripoli.
It’s a European DXpedition.
TM4Q (France) will be in use for the CW contest Nov 25th – 26th.
V31LL (Belise) should be active until 21st October.
XF4DL, (Soccoro Island, Revillagigedo Island) will be active from Oct
17th to November 3rd.
Contests: 14th – 15th Oceania DX CW.
Last weekend was the phone section and did bring out some of the VKs,
I didn’t see many ZLs in the lists though. But being honest, there
is nothing until the Worked All Germany contest on the 21st - 22nd or
the CQ WW on the 28th – 29th.
I shall miss both!! I will be travelling to Seoul, South Korea to see
my eldest daughter. If there are any radio amateurs in Seoul who read
this bulletin who wouldn’t mind a visit from me, then let me know.
Watch out for pics from Korea over the next few weeks.
Sun:
Allegedly, (court mode) there is a sunspot on the face of the sun and
its growing. However you’d be hard pushed to check it out. But there's
more to solar activity than sunspots. "Even the quiet sun can knock
your socks off with a beautiful prominence," says Tom Masterson of
Washington State who took this picture on Oct. 9th.
That’s about it for this week, except that ‘4TUT gave me
some of his home grown tomatoes and very tasty they are too. I’ve
told him that some RF about would help them grow bigger but I still can’t
get him put some amps into his gear. I keep trying.
