Another dull week on 10m.
Most stations listed Monday through Friday were heard only once although
the south Americans (PY etc) seemed out in numbers.
The weekend was slightly better with VP8LP (Falklands) and V51AS (Namibia) being streets ahead of the rest, not surprising really. 8R1XR 9 Guyana) is also a new one on me. 3C7Y (Bioko Island) is still about although not working too much (who is?) on ten metres. C33PP (Andorra) is also a slightly unusual one. TT8PK is also back in Tchad for the moment.

Contests: Assorted flotsam and jetsam this weekend. There is of course the WAG contest. (In the UK WAG has special significance as Wives And Girlfriends, usually of footballers. A WAG contest would surely be a visual spectacle not one for the radio!).
I digress, WAG is actually Worked All Germany contest from 15:00 Saturday to 15:00 Sunday. This is just me being picky (as if) but if you’ve worked all Germany (past tense) why would you enter the contest? Really though, it must be jokers (not my first choice of words but the editor thinks kids might read this) weekend.
This is just a few of the titles for contests (not all 10m) this weekend. School Club Roundup, JARTS WW RTTY Contest, QRP ARCI Fall QSO Party, Feld-Hell Club Sprint, Stew Perry Topband Distance Challenge "Warm-up", W/VE Islands QSO Party, 070 Club 160m Great Pumpkin Sprint, Run For The Bacon QRP Contest. Who thinks ‘em all up? I ask you.
Sun: “The sun has got his hat on, hip hip hip
hooray. The sun has got his hat on and he’s coming out to play.”
Well not really. Sun spots zero.
The Orionids are about, meteors caused by the earth passing through the
dust left by Halley’s Comet. Not usually the most spectacular of
shows but worth a look out if the sky is clear on 21st October.
My last words are for G4TUT, the editor, who is threatening to buy a
new rig and may even get an antenna to go with it (??).
More power to your PA mate!! Get some RF out of TUT Towers, it’s
ages since you’ve been on air, do you good, you know it makes sense.
