Tony's 10 Metre Band Report
27 September
2006
It is good to get feed back even if it is to point out
a mistake I’ve made.
Aleksander, S57S, (Slovenia) says,
“Tnx Tony for interesting 10m page. Just one comment - publish
calls (in your report) like P5AAA was not good idea. What can we get out
of such information? Nothing! All other was great! 73, keep good work,
Aleksander”
Oops, sorry about that, I do try to check them out but
this is one that got past me and it’s obviously duff.
Aleksander also uses the following calls: KG0IE and his former calls
have been YU3XU, 5B4/YU3XU, S59ZA, W0/S59ZA. He has also been involved
in operating YU3EST, YU4JOP, YU3EKL, 4N3E, YT3T, HB0/YT3AM, YU3DXX, YU3UFB,
YU3DBC, OE8Q, S51S and S53T. All I can say is wow! and he has a family
too. Incredible.
This week has been poor but Saturday had 6 times as many CW contacts
than phone and Sunday 5 times. Incidentally all together there was twice
the activity on Sunday compared to Saturday and something like 50 times
as much activity on a single weekend day as during the best day in the
week.
Most popular DX.

Saturday’s PC650ENK is legit and is a Netherlands special event
station. OZ6SSTV is also real and is a Slow Scan TV competition station
active on Ten Metres.
N8USECA however is a mystery. Maybe a typo or a copying error, if anyone
knows anything get back to me.
Andy, G0FTD, a long time user of 10 metres says,
“Paul, M3OYM, (local to Whitstable) was worked by myself on
Sunday on 29.6FM. I deliberately choose to use 10m FM just to see if anyone
else popped up (which they didn't).”
He adds, “Had a look on Monday at 28Mhz, dead. Of course 27Mhz had
activity, which I think was a late sporadic E opening. I've been developing
antennas (still) for my FT817 and local ground wave stuff and some QSO's
during the summer proves that 28Mhz has the full capacity to support small
portable low powered communications equipment in a significant way. (Other
bands still being tested- I'm trying to get 160m setup for trials too!)”.
There are lots of you folk out there, 10m enthusiasts to the core!! So
if you have anything to say - good or bad - let me know.
G7BXU, Steven, (Steve maybe?) dropped in a first report,
again about Monday. He heard DL1MPC, SA6AQP, DG0UGF, EB2EPR and CT1IUR.
He comments “A lot of QSB but good reports both ways (run 200 watts,
1000mp markv home G5RV at 27 ft)”. I’m not sure what the “1000mp”
is so amplify the info for us Steven, if you please.
Contests: This coming Sunday from 07:00 to 19:00 sees the RSGB
21/28 MHz contest, phone section. S those of you who haven’t work
G yet, get the chance to. (??) Oh well I had to give it plug didn’t
I. (Roll on CQWW)
Sun: Zilch, spot 910 nearly gone.
No pics this week. The nights are drawing in but the weather here in
the UK is still surpassing all expectations, I’m still wearing shorts
(definitely no pictures).
