ADSL contest hots up

INTERNODE a South Australian internet provider has about 300 customers using ADSL2+ on 11 exchanges throughout greater Adelaide and it expects a further 2700 customers will be using the service on 21 exchanges by the end of May.

Internode is touting the service as the first in Australia capable of the voice, video and data "triple play".

ADSL2+ is technically capable of data speeds of up to 24Mbps, but in practice, most customers within 2.5km of exchanges were experiencing speeds on a scale ranging from 5Mbps up to 18Mbps.
