VK Repeater contest

Now here's one for VK stations to mark in their calendars for next month. It's Westlakes unique CQ Repeater Contest, where amateurs are encouraged to put a little life into the usually quiet repeaters, and it runs Australia-wide!

This years contest will be held from the 1st to the 7th of May, and it must be a good thing indeed, cos it's run every year since late last century - well, 1999 anyway.

Of course, the aim of all contests is to promote good will between amateurs and to encourage on-air activity. And while it most certainly does this, the big difference with the CQ Repeater Contest is that all contacts must be made on repeaters.

So note those dates again, May 1 to 7, and we'll tell you a bit more about one of amateur radio's more unusual contests very soon.
