'Rockall Ho! 2005' Expedition

Nine people, including two radio amateurs, will participate in the ‘Rockall Ho! 2005’ expedition.

The venture will raise funds for MEdia, a project of the Mental Health Media charity.

Weather permitting, the group plans to land on Rockall, 230 miles from the nearest land in the North Atlantic, between about 14 and 21 June.

Dave Wood, MM0ALM, and Jim Cameron, MM0CWJ, will rely on a member of the SAS to get them on to the rock from an inflatable. They hope to put up a small tent on a tiny ledge a few metres square and to operate primarily SSB as MS0IRC/P.

In 2003 a similar attempt to land on Rockall was unsuccessful, but raised funds for MEdia that were used to help people with learning difficulties take part in the electronic media.

Rockall is the last unnumbered - never to have been activated - IOTA island group in Europe.
