WIA Board to establish a club grants scheme

The Australian National Society is adopting a grant scheme which is a good idea. In the UK, however, we are fortunate in having the National Lottery who are happy to give up to £5000 to any Radio Club who applies.

WIA Board to Establish a Club Grants Scheme

At its meeting in Sydney on the 8 th and 9 th April 2005 the WIA Board decided to establish a Club Grant Scheme, whereby Affiliated Clubs with at least 50% WIA membership would be able to lodge submission seeking a grant for a particular purpose.

Such a scheme had been operated successfully by the previous Queensland Division, and it was hoped it would be attractive for all clubs affiliated with the national WIA.

Detailed terms of the scheme have yet to be finalised, but it is anticipated that a clubs percentage of members in excess of 50% who are WIA members would be a factor, and that subject only to unforseen budget constraints at least $1,500 would allocated for this purpose in the 2006 financial year.

The WIA will announce further details once they are finalised
