Centre Victoria RadioFest a 'big hit'
The Centre Victoria RadioFest at Kyneton held
last Sunday set a number of benchmarks for this type of event.
Many favourable comments were received from those who had previously attended
amateur radio events and it attracted lots who were out to experience
their very first.
No Victorian event had been mounted on such a scale and at large, yet
mainly under-cover venue. One comment often heard was that people had
smiles on their faces and the social atmosphere was great.
More than 550 attended on the day. In the opinion of the commercial traders
it was "Australia's best organised event".
WIA President, Michael Owen VK3KI who helped man the WIA stand, described
the RadioFest as "excellent" and congratulated the organisers
on a job well done.
The top door prize from Vertex Standard Australia, a Yaesu FT857D transceiver
was collected by Kevin Hughes VK3WN after his non-ham XYL Pearl, had the
winning ticket.
A full report of the day can be read on the website

The Organising Committee, with representatives from Amateur Radio Victoria,
Central Goldfields Amateur Radio Club and the Midland Amateur Radio Club,
says "thank you" to the volunteers, traders, second-hand sellers,
club corner participants, come 'n try activity providers, mini-lecture
presenters and the many hundreds that attended and enjoyed the day.
