CQ
Magazine announces winners of 2006 DX Marathon
"In 1947, CQ Magazine held the first ever
DX Marathon, which then morphed into the CQ World Wide DX Contest.
Jump forward almost 60 years and from January 1 to December 31, 2006,
the DX Marathon was re-born where hams everywhere were encouraged to "work
'em all" in a twelve month period.
The CQ DX Marathon has already increased activity on the bands and appeals
to hams in any location and any station capability. The DX Marathon will
be repeated every year from January 1 to December 31.
For 2006, the winner in the Unlimited Class is Pete Meyer, N0FW. Pete
had an amazing score of 326 - 286 countries and all 40 zones. The Formula
class winner was Drago, T94GB, with an impressive score of 228 including
193 countries and 35 zones using 100 watts and wire antennas.
Complete results will appear in the June 2007 issue of CQ Magazine.
For 2007, the WARC bands are now permitted, so overall participation
is expected to increase. For complete rules and submission information,
please see our web site at: www.dxmarathon.com
Good luck and see you on the bands!"
