New 70 MHz SV1FOUR Beacon in Greece

SV1DH reports on the Four Metre website that the beacon SV1FOUR in Athens started operating on 24th April 2007 on 70.040 MHz.

It is licensed for 5 watts output to 5-ele yagi (~8dBd, -3dB & 50 deg az) beaming 315 deg (centered for UK). At the moment it is running at about 1 watt. It sends the callsign followed by several dashes and locator KM27AW in CW.

SV1DH is the beacon keeper.

The licensing of this beacon is a welcome sign of the spread of Amateur 70 MHz operation across Europe.
