G & VK RTTY contests become one

The British Amateur Radio Teledata Group (BARTG) and the Australian National Amateur Radio Teleprinter Society (ANARTS) have announced that from 2010 their annual RTTY contests will be merged.

This year will be the final running of the BARTG HF contest on the third weekend in March and the ANARTS event on the second weekend in June.

Next year there will be a single HF RTTY contest on the June with slightly changed rules. The BARTG will continue to run its Sprint Contest in January.

The reason for the changes are: BARTG wanted to moves its contest out of March which has a clash with Russian DX Contest, and ANARTS Contest Manger Pat Leeper VK2JPA wanting to retire.

Well done to Pat VK2JPA, one of the contributors to ANARTS including being its Secretary and Broadcast Officer.

ANARTS began in 1977 and since run more than 1500 weekly RTTY news broadcasts.
