3400 MHz allocation for EstoniaAs of April 3, Radio Amateurs in Estonia have access to the 3400 MHz band. Their 70 MHz allocation has also been expanded. This move by Estonia is a welcome development. Clearly the more European and African countries that get a 3400 MHz Amateur Radio Service allocation the greater the chance of getting this much needed Amateur Satellite Service allocation in ITU Region 1. 3400-3410 MHz is already an Amateur Satellite Service allocation in the rest of the world. In an email on Moon-net Viljo ES5PC writes: I'm pleased to announce that from April 3rd we will have 3.4GHz amateur frequency allocation available on a secondary basis. The actual frequency range: 3400-3401 MHz Maximum allowed TX power: 20dBW at antenna elevations below 10 degrees and 30dBW at elevations above 10 degrees (same as for our 13cm allocation). This means that I should start planning my 3.4 GHz setup now. I think the main challenge for me is to find a suitable PA to hear some echoes with my 4.5 m dish. Perhaps somebody has something suitable available for reasonable price?
73, Viljo ES5PC
Estonian Amateurs have also got an enhanced 70 MHz allocation. On the 70MHz.org website ES1CW writes: On 31 March 2010 the Minister of Economic Affairs and Communications of Estonia has designed changes in the National frequency master plan and in the Regulations of Amateur Radio Usage in the country whose will be active from 4 April 2010. 70.000-70.050 MHz 70.050-70.300 MHz * in the administration district of Ida-Virumaa i.e. in the Eastern part of ES4 call area (an eastern half of KO39 and incl. western part of KO49 WWLs) max 100 W of transmitter output power are allowed.
