UK cops arrest ham for 'incitement to racial hatred' on 20mNorth West Surrey Police took swift action to pull the plug on an amateur radio broadcast from Addlestone in Surrey, which put out on-air comments which were considered likely to incite religious and racial hatred. The 67-year-old broadcaster was arrested on Tuesday, July 26, within
hours of a listener making a complaint to police. Temporary Chief Inspector Roger Nield said: “Surrey Police has always treated any form of hate crime as a serious offence. In the aftermath of the London bombings, we continue to closely monitor crimes based on religious and race hatred. We will continue to protect the rights of members of all faiths and communities to pursue their way of life as they wish, free of the fear of intimidation. “I am proud of my officers who acted quickly in response to this
report and hope it demonstrates to the public we will not tolerate any
form of hate or discrimination. I would encourage any resident who becomes
aware of any further incidents to contact the police immediately.”
