• 1770 Captain James Cook landed on Australia, claimed it for the British Crown.

• 1891 Thomas Edison applied for a movie camera patent.

• 1891 W.Gray markets coin operated phone boxes, Hartford. USA.

• 1896 Melbourne Opera House, the first projected film show in Australia.

• 1900 C. Perskyi describes 'Television' at Paris Exposition.

• 1910 J.D.A McCurdy sends first wireless message from aircraft to ground (Long Island)

• 1922 First 'commercial' aired on WEAF, New York.

• 1932 The British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) began its first experimental TV broadcast in England.
