IARUMS - your support needed

Hans van de Groenendaal, ZS6AKV, is the responsible SARL Councillor for IARUMS, the IARU Monitoring Service, and invites radio amateurs to join the South African Radio League (SARL) Divisional Advisor Programme.

The objective of the DA Programme is to establish a core of subject matter experts to provide a link between the SARL Council and Radio Amateurs in each division, who will provide input in their area of expertises. This structure will also assist in bringing the SARL and members closer and further improve the communication channels.

The IARUMS is an important programme aimed at protecting the amateur frequencies from unwanted intruders. The programme is very active in Europe but lacks monitoring input from the southern hemisphere and this is where the SARL and Radio Amateurs in South Africa need to play an active role.

Being part of the IARUMS programme you learn about various types of broadcasts, modulation schemes and what goes on in the world of HF outside amateur radio, but impacting on the amateur service.
