Ofcom consultation feedback

Radio amateurs are reminded that they have only 12 days left to submit their feedback on communications regulator Ofcom’s consultation document into the future of amateur radio licensing in the UK.

The RSGB believes that this is one of the most important consultations in the history of amateur radio and urges all radio amateurs to engage in the consultation and respond by the 18 August deadline.

The RSGB has completed a programme of regional meetings across the UK and – at the request of many radio amateurs - has produced a guide of sample answers to the questions posed by Ofcom in its consultation document. These answers have been drawn together from feedback received from radio amateurs who attended the regional meetings and from letters and emails received at RSGB HQ. The guide can be found on the RSGB website. RSGB general manager Peter Kirby said: “This is your chance to shape the future of licensing and safeguard the hobby for the future. Please use it.”

E-mail responses to Ofcom’s proposals should be sent to amateurradio@ofcom.org.uk, while letters should be marked with the title of the consultation and posted to Amateur Radio Licensing, Ofcom, Riverside House, 2A Southwark Bridge Road , London SE1 9HA .
