IMPORTANT: Ofcom - Have You Responded Yet?

The deadline for the Ofcom UK Amateur Licensing consulation returns is coming up fast.

At present just over ~200 returns have been sent in which is less than 0.5% of all UK licensees. This is dangerously low and will give Ofcom the impression that apathy reins and it can do whatever it likes to us in future. Every reader of this website is urged to put in a response (and it need not just be the UK members either!).

In particular strong answers to the deregulation questions (Q5&Q6) (WT Licence Exemption in Ofcom parlance) are needed to safeguard us being further downgraded in our allocations, plus Q9 for low-priced/free NoVs which can affect Beacons, Repeaters, special events and experimentation.

A key issue now being seen is the level of active participation and number of responses (almost regardless of individuals views). A far higher turnout is vital to show that amateurs care about their hobby
