Australian Remembrance Day 2005 Contest

Set Aug 13 and 14 in your diary. 6pm east coast time on the Saturday is the start time, and it runs a full 24 hours.

I've been listening to some of the state announcements which follow the WIA national broadcasts, and I'm delighted to report that more than one state is really having a big go at the RD this year.

We've introduced some new rules, and the new scoring system means that literally ANY state, irrespective of size, could take out the coveted silver mug for the year.

All top entrants in each state will get handsome certificates, too, and this years new bonus points system will throw some fascinating new variables into the scoring and, no doubt, give the manager a gigantic headache. Ah well, it's self inflicted. I'm the manager and I wrote the rules. If you really tried hard, it's possible to get up to 32 points for a single contact. Just you let me work out the final numbers and you concentrate on making the contacts. How's that for a great deal?

Look, the RD Contest is the country's biggest annual radio bash. People come out of the woodwork once a year to take part in the RD. Whether you're an HF junkie, skulking exclusively on 10FM or 160 metres CW, a VHF or UHF operator whose station is glued exclusively to 10 gigs, there's something in the RD for you. You don't have to submit a log, but every log which is submitted gives your state or territory that much better chance to win the contest.

Again, the evening of Saturday, August 13 and all day Sunday, August 14. Be there!
