2 metres 'well-oiled' in VU land

Ankur VU2AXN in Mumbai was scanning the VHF band and on 145 MHz heard people having a QSO.

Not hearing a callsign, and concerned at the content of the transmission he decided to break into the QSO and spoke to the person on AIR and was stunned to know that the frequency was being used by an OIL RIG stationed between the Gateway of India and the Elephanta caves.

Upon asking him as to who has authorised the use of the frequency, VU2AXN was told the 'well known manufacturer' of their radios set them up on the 2 meter band!

The person on the oil rig gave his name and contact details and hopefully by now the "pirates" are well and truly back on their licensed dedicated channels.
