EVRA Railway special event station
The Derby & District Amateur Radio Society have been
invited to put on an exhibition station at the Ecclesbourne Valley Railway
HQ in Wirksworth, Derbyshire, on the 3 days of the August Bank Holiday
weekend, the 28, 29 and 30th of August.
We will be using the club callsign GX3ERD for the
event, as the last letters can conveniently spell 'Ecclesbourne Railway
Derbyshire'.
The plan at the moment is that we operate on HF from one of the restored
brake vans with a trap dipole hanging from the yard lighting poles.
The weekend features various heritage vehicles, including
the bus used to carry the Queen's corgis!
The railway has just received clearance to operate public trains for the
first time since the line was 'mothballed' in 1989. Train rides will be
free, using one of the veteran diesel units based at Wirksworth.
