Day 2:
The second day of the directors meeting went off very much like the first.

Day 3:
The third day dawned and the big conference acually started.
Delegates were arriving from almost all member countries of the IARU Region 3. Most of the delegates were also staying at the conference venue, so there was not much problems with the transportation between the venues.

The team leaders meeting was scheduled for 7.00 pm. All the team leaders were informed about the rules of the conference and instructed about the do's and dont's.

Day 4:
The fourth day stated off at 7.30 a.m. Registrations were received for the conference. The affiliations and payments received were checked. Delegate kits were distributed.

The plenary session started at exactly 9.00 am.
Gopal Madhavan, VU2GMN was duly elected chairman of the conference. Keigo Komuro, JA1KAB was elected the secretary of the conference. All the team delegates were seated in a U table with the head table being occupied with the IARU R3 chiarman, the conference chairman, the conference secretary and the five directors of the IARU R3.

Mr. Tim Ellam, VE5SH, Vice President of the IARU, who has specially flown in from Canada gave his address.

Mr. Young Soon Park, HL1IFB from Korea gave the presidential address.

The team from ARSI and the volunteers assembled were introduced to the delegates.

After the coffee break, three working groups were set up.
The working groups would meet seperately and discuss the various papers put up on the agenda. They would arrive at conclusions and present it to the IARU R3 plenary the next day.

The meetings went on with the break for a quick lunch.
The meetings were adjourned at 6.00 p.m.

ARSI hosted cocktails and dinner for all the delegates and the spouses at 6.30 pm at the Gokulam restaurant. They were joined by some special invitees from Bangalore and other places.

The paryting went on till late in the night until all the delegates went off to their rooms to get some much needed sleep..

Day 5:
Day 5 of the IARU R3 conference started but ARSI president and the conference chairman OM Gopal, VU2GMN, had to step down and take a urgent flight back to Chennai due to a medical emergency concerning his wife, Prasanna, VU2PXN. We hope and pray for her fast recovery.

In his absence, Sarla VU2SWS has been elected as the chairperson of the conference and OM Poru, VU2GGM has been elected as the Official Indian delagate.

The special event station with the callsign VU13IARU has been operating from the conference venue by a group of volunteers headed by OM POP, VU2POP and helped by OM Mani, VU2WMY and OM Lakshman, VU2LX. Inspite of the very poor conditions, they have made several DX contacts and there are already e-mail requests asking for validation and the special QSL cards from Japan, Indonesia, Germany and Argentina. Hats off to POP and his gang of merry men.

There were four sessions of the working group meetings held today and the reports will be presented to the plenary tomorrow morning. Tomorrow is the last day of operation of the working groups and all the reports will be presented to the plenary the next day.

The election and candidate validation committee was formed under the chairmanship of Rod Stafford of ARRL, W6ROD. It is a matter of pride for us the ARSI GC member OM Poru, VU2GGM has been elected unanimously to this committee.

The day ended with a grand cocktail and dinner party hosted by the International Amateur Radio Union and the American Radio Relay League. Late night partying was still going on when I stepped out to have a good nights sleep.

The outstanding feature of the delibrations is the frienships being formed, cutting across national lines, colour and creed. The true nature of Ham radio is being lived up to.

Thanks and regards
