Three Radio Amateurs receive awardsThe South African Amateur Radio Development Trust presented awards to three Radio Amateurs on Wednesday last week in recognision of their outstanding contribution to the promotion of Amateur Radio and Community service. The Siemens Radio Amateur of the Year Award was awarded to Pierre Tromp, ZS1HF, for his contribution to Hamnet, the disaster communication arm of the South African Radio League. The Siemens Young Radio Amateur of the Year Award was presented to Stuart Reid, ZR6DBZ, for his initiative to create a weekly Radio Network for young radio amateurs to share their ideas and promote amateur radio to the youth. The third award is the Radio Amateur Community Service Award which was presented to Antoinette Liebenberg, ZS6D, for her dedication to visually impaired radio amateurs by reading to them from technical and other publications on the air.
