Radio Hams asked to participate in charity weekend

The British Wireless for the Blind Fund is calling on radio amateurs everywhere to help it raise money by participating in its annual radio competition called Transmission.

The idea is that radio amateurs ask their friends, family and workmates to sponsor them for contacts made over the 48-hour duration of the event.

Trophies are awarded to individuals and groups who make the most contacts or raise the greatest amount of money for the charity.

Certificates will also be sent to all individuals and groups who either raise more than £10 or make a donation of at least £10.

In order to qualify for a trophy, amateurs must be current members of the RSGB and resident in the UK.

However, overseas amateurs and non-members of the society are also invited to join in the fun and raise funds for the charity.

This year’s Transmission competition is taking place over 23-24 September. A full list of competition rules and sponsorship forms can be downloaded from the British Wireless for the Blind Fund’s website – www.blind.org.uk.
