W2IK/WTC911 commemorating 911W2IK/WTC911 will be in operation on September 11th. This, to commemorate the 5th anniversary of those lost in the al-Qaeda backed terrorist attack that brought down the World Trade Center in New York City. After the attack, the W2IK callsign was the first signal to emanate from 'Ground Zero'. Now, W2IK will again be on the air beginning 9 a.m. Eastern time and operating until 11 PM. The mode is SSB only in the upper portions of 15, 20 and 40 metres. A special color QSL certificate will be mailed to each station making a contact.
