WICEN 'gearing-up' for the City to Surf Fun Run

VK6PO tells us WICEN (WA) is 'gearing up' for the City to Surf Fun Run next Sunday 27th.

This is the 25th year that WICEN (WA) has provided communication facilities for this event, which is a significant milestone.

This year again, there will be eight operators using portable and mobile equipment conveniently placed along the route, operating on the 2 metre amateur radio band and utilizing the WICEN repeater.

Recently on the 29th July four WICEN operators provided 'Safety on Stage' communications for one stage of the "Experts Cup" which is an 'off road' car rally and held in the forest near Collie.

Other significant motoring events coming up which WICEN operators will be involved with are 'TARGA WEST' (2nd year) and TELSTRA RALLY Australia.

Motoring events require each operator to be suitably licensed according to the Confederation of Australian Motor Sport requirements.
