ILMARI-2007 Amateur Radio balloon launches 2nd September

A balloon carrying an Amateur Radio
144 MHz to 437 MHz linear transponder will be launched from Sappee, Finland on 2nd September.

The SSB/CW linear transponder will invert the passband so users will transmit LSB on 144 MHz and listen on USB on 437 MHz.

The balloon will also carry an FM AX.25 APRS, a 23cm ATV transmitter and a beacon in the 80 metre band.

Although the balloon will reach a maximum height of 31 kilometres, it is unlikely the UHF signals would be heard in the UK but it may be worth listening for the 80 metre beacon or tracking its progress on APRS.
