International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend

Members of the Bahia Blanca DX Group will transmit again from five different lighthouses at the same time during the International Lighthouse/Lightship Weekend (ILLW) which will be held on the third weekend of August (August 17-19th).

Look for the following lighthouses:

RINCON Lighthouse (ARG-036) -- Special Prefix/Callsign LR3DX will be used. Lat. 39° 23' S Long. 62° 01' W --- Grid Locator = FF80xo. Located in Verde Peninsula in Villarino County.

RECALADA Lighthouse (ARG-009) -- Each operator will use their own callsign plus “/D” because they are located in the Province of Buenos Aires. Lat. 39º 00’ S Long. 61º 16’ W. ---- Grid Locator = FF91ia. Located in Monte Hermoso. The tallest LH in South America and the sixth in the world.

BALIZA TRIPODE Lighthouse (ARG–1884), using the BBDXG callsign LU3DXG. Lat. 38º 53’ S Long. 61º 58’ W ---- Grid Locator = FF91ac Located at 30 Km. from the Puerto Belgrano Naval Base.

CABO BLANCO Lighthouse (ARG-001), using the official LH call LU6XA Lat. 47°12'S Long. 65°45'W --- Grid Locator = FE72dt Located in San Jorge Gulf, 60 Km. north from Puerto Deseado, Santa Cruz Province and 1420 Km. South from Bahia Blanca.

Activity will be on all bands and modes, including the Digi-
modes (RTTY, PSK, SSTV..). Contacts with Recalada, Baliza Tripode and Rincon Lighthouses will be valid for the "Province of Buenos Aires Lighthouses Award" organized by Bahia Blanca DX Group. (more info from: lu9esd@yahoo.com).

Meanwhile, a special radio station will be active as SN2NP during the ILLW between August 17-19th. Activity will be from the lighthouse in Gdansk Nowy Port.

Operations will be on CW, PSK31, RTTY and SSB.
