Earth Movie taken by Amateur Radio Satellite CO-65

The pioneering Amateur Radio satellite Cute-1.7 + APD II (CO-65) has taken a short movie of the Earth as viewed from space.

The movie was taken while the satellite was above Japan. It's very short but the team say it is the first movie taken by a 3 kg satellite in the world. From this movie, they can confirm that the satellite rotates at about 0.2 rad/s.

The CO-65 team are planning to take pictures and movies continuously.

This movie was taken at 2008-07-17 0:02:14 UTC and can be seen here:

Cute-1.7 + APD II (CO-65) was put into orbit by the Indian PSLV-C9 launch vehicle on April 28 2008.

The satellite can be heard on these frequencies (+/- 9 kHz doppler shift)

437.275MHz - CW beacon - worldwide
437.475MHz - AFSK 1200bps / GMSK 9600bps AX.25/SRLL - only over Japan
