Antenna firm sites plan discussed

Consultations have started over plans to close three sites in Warwickshire involved in antenna operations.

CommScope, which owns Precision Antennas, has proposed closing sites at Stratford, Bidford and Long Marston.

It said microwave antenna operations at the three locations would be shifted to existing facilities of Andrew, which acquired Precision, or outsourced.

CommScope said it regretted that its staff would be affected by the plans which also affect other countries.

"We can better serve and secure the long-term interests of our global employee population, as well as our customers and shareholders, by reducing costs whenever possible," said Brian Garrett, CommScope president and chief operating officer.

The statutory consultation will last 90 days
