Essex Police - Make your own Walkie Talkies

On Wednesday the Essex Police Museum held a Make Your Own Walkie Talkie event as part of its summer activity programme.

The museum, located at Essex Police Headquarters in Springfield, Chelmsford, has many interesting displays covering the history of policing.

To attract a younger audience to the museum, the 'make your own' events have been held every Wednesday throughout the summer holidays.

The Make Your Own Walkie Talkie event saw youngsters making their own version of police Airwave radios to talk to their friends with.

Becky Wash, museum curator, said: “Communication plays a vital role in the way police work and this is a fun and educational way for young people to learn about radios. Airwave staff will be attending on the day, to show children how our real radios work.”
