Gremlins on the ISSAndy Thomas, G0SFJ, is a regular reader of the Southgate news pages. But now, Andy has himself made the news. Andy recently entered a competition organised by Russia Today and the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos, and his story has been picked as one of the winning entries. The Russia Today website says: On September 30, Russian Max Suraev, American Jeffrey Williams, KD5TVQ and Canadian Guy Laliberte will blast off on their space mission. And to give them a good start, visitors to the RT (Russia Today) website were invited to take part in making the crew’s trip into orbit merrier by telling the cosmonauts a story that will warm them in the cold vacuum of outer space! Earlier school children from around the globe took part in a drawing competition to create an emblem for the crew, and the characters created by the three winners are on the picture to the left (see link at bottom). But they didn’t have names or personalities, and so it was suggested that a competition be held to create a story in which Max the Cosmonaut and Three Space Kiddies are the main characters. The creative competition has now concluded, and the best tales have been picked. The winners are Konstantin from Moscow and Andy from the United Kingdom. RT, along with the Russian Space Agency Roscosmos, congratulates the winners on their victory, and is honored to present them with their prizes: an autographed photo of the crew, an official ISS T-shirt and an RT puzzle. Congratulations!
