ILLW could be a record year

The International Lighthouse and Lightship Weekend,
15 and 16 August, has 355 registrations so far and more expected in the next ten days.

Australia still leads the country tally 46, Germany 42, England and the USA around 35 each, equal pegging on 21 are Argentina, Holland and Sweden, followed by Belgium, Finland, New Zealand, Scotland, South Africa each with about ten.

The very first ILLW activation of southernmost lighthouse on Australia’s mainland, Wilsons Promontory is certain to attract attention.

Adam Shrimpton VK3PHY is set for the 18kms walk to reach the remote lighthouse. He’s hoping for good weather while carrying a Yaesu FT817 transceiver, dipole, a quarter-wave 20m vertical, batteries and charger, plus food and warm clothes.

For more details and the full list of registered lighthouses in more than 40 countries visit the website www.illw.net
