Ofcom - further consultation on clearing the
800 MHz band
The UK regulator Ofcom has published a focused consultation on clearing programme-making and special events (PMSE) from the 800 MHz band.
The document proposes additional eligibility criteria for funding, seeks information to allow Ofcom and the Government to better understand the scale of funding that will be needed, considers the timing for PMSE users to clear channel 69 and assesses new licensing arrangements for channels 38-40.
The consultation which closes on 10 September 2009 can be found here http://www.ofcom.org.uk/consult/condocs/

What has been noticeable in the discussions concerning PMSE is the lack of a European perspective. There could be significant benefits from a common PMSE allocation across the European Union. Why shouldn't a piece of equipment that can be used 80 miles west of London also be usable 80 miles to the east ?
